{May 15, 2013}   Amanda knox ;Memoir

I ‘ve followed the live television broadcast of the Amanda Knox trail and, wonder about the whole story. There is always two sides to a story . For four years, Amanda Knox felt silenced. Italian prosecutors, who had accused her (and two accomplices) of murdering her roommate, called her the devil. The Italian press called her “angel faced killer.” Knox’s only rebuttals came during those brief moments of addressing the court. Even after Knox was acquitted in 2011 and allowed to return home to Seattle—after nearly four years in prison—she stayed voluntarily silent. Now, in Waiting to Be Heard, she is finally telling her side of the story.

Book Description:

A young woman’s soul-baring account of a nightmare turned real, of unimaginable horror and the miscarriage of justice that ensued, and, ultimately, of fortitude in the face of overwhelming adversity, Waiting to Be Heard is a memoir unlike any you have ever read. In November 2007, Amanda Knox was twenty years old and had been studying abroad in Perugia, Italy, for only a few weeks when her friend and roommate, a young English student named Meredith Kercher, was brutally murdered. The investigation made headlines around the world, and Amanda’s arrest placed her at the center of a media firestorm. Young, naïve, grieving at the horrifying death of her friend, and with little more than basic knowledge of the Italian language, she was subjected to harsh interrogations during which she struggled to understand the police and to make her own words understood. The subsequent trial exposed Amanda to international scrutiny and speculation, and she became a tabloid staple. In 2009, after an extremely controversial trial, she was wrongly convicted of murder. But in October 2011, after Amanda had spent four years in an Italian prison, and following a lengthy appeals process, the conviction was overturned. Amanda immediately flew home to the United States.

{September 20, 2012}   Book Pick For The WEEK ( 54 ) !

Kimberly Pauley offers amusing insights into the minds of  teens & cats, with snappy dialogue, and a fast-paced plot !

Book Description

Never listen to a cat. That will only get you in trouble. Actually, scratch that. Listening to cats is one thing, but really I should never listen to my best friend Oscar. It s completely his fault (okay, and my aspiring actress friend Melly s too) that I got caught up in this crazy celebrity-kidnapping mess. If you had asked me, I would have thought it would be one of my super-Talented sisters who d get caught up in crime fighting. I definitely never thought it would be me and my Talent trying to save the day. Usually, all you get out of conversations with cats is requests for tummy rubs and tuna. Wait . . . I go back to what I said first: Never listen to a cat. Because when the trouble starts and the kitty litter hits the fan, trust me, you don t want to be in the middle of it .“I was a freak from a family of freaks.” High school sophomore Natalie “Nat” Ng has a “Talent” she’s not proud of: the ability to talk to cats. Her younger sister is a “supergenius” with chameleonlike abilities; her older sister is proficient in truth divination and levitation, and has X-ray vision; and her parents work for the Bureau of Extrasensory Regulation and Management. When a film crew comes to Nat’s Chicago high school to shoot a takeoff of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off things get fishy: the female star isn’t acting like herself, and Nat learns from a cat that celebrity blogger Easton West may not be who she claims to be. Along with her friends Oscar and Melly, Nat gets dragged into a whirlwind adventure to find out what happened to the real Easton. Pauley (Still Sucks to Be Me) offers amusing insights into the minds of cats, snappy dialogue, and a fast-paced plot. Readers should easily relate to Nat, and cat-lovers in particular will find a lot to enjoy in this romp.

{August 30, 2012}   Student Poem For The WEEK !

Stay In School

Stay in school, don’t be a fool
A dropout gets left out
A dropout gets pushed out
Show me your name, what does it mean
Show me your ring, you’re in the scene
Without an education there is no beginning
With education you are winning
Stay in school, student maintain your cool
It’s so hard to get a job now days
Without education just be on your way
Show me your car, what does it prove?
Show me youe diploma, you’re in the groove
You don’t have to be smart to finish school
But you are a square if you are not there
Dropout, you can start back
Students that are in school
You are on the right track
You can’t stand around the corner going no-where
Watching the school bus go by
You know deep down inside you want to cry
It is good to stop drinking
It is good to stop smoking
When you are thinking about stopping your education
My friend you better start THINKING !

What Is A Dad ( FATHER’S DAY ) ?

A dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up,
brushes you off,
and lets you try again.

A dad is someone who
wants to keep you from making mistakes
but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt.

A dad is someone who
holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed,
and has faith in you even when you fail…

{May 30, 2012}   Poem For The WEEK ( 34 ) !

WHY NOT

Why am I working for someone else?
I hate punching the clock.
I hate going to work on a time schedule.
I hate someone else getting credit for my ideas.
I would rather fail at what I love.
Then succeed at what I hate.
So I decided , why not try.
To pursue my dreams and fear nothing.
But fear itself  by doing nothing,
I become nothing.
